Arrive in Srinagar and Drive to Baltal Basecamp

Altitude (Baltal): 2,743 m / 9,000 ft.
Drive Distance: 95 km from Srinagar via Sonamarg | approx. 3.5-4 hrs
Acclimatization, security checks, and Yatra registration verification at Baltal basecamp.
Overnight stay in alpine tents at Baltal.

Baltal to Holy Amarnath Cave and Return to Baltal

Altitude (Holy Cave): 3,888 m / 12,756 ft.
Trek Distance: 14 km uphill and 14 km return (Total 28 km) | 9-11 hrs
Early morning start (4:00 AM) via Domail, Barari Marg, and Sangam.
Holy Darshan of the naturally formed Ice Shiva Lingam inside the sacred Amarnath Cave.
Return trek to Baltal campsite for dinner and overnight stay.

Baltal to Srinagar (Houseboat / Hotel Stay)

Drive Distance: 95 km | Duration: 3.5-4 hrs
Scenic return drive through Sonamarg and the Sind Valley to Srinagar.
Evening Shikara ride on Dal Lake and visit to Mughal Gardens (Nishat & Shalimar).
Overnight stay in a hotel or traditional Kashmiri houseboat in Srinagar.

Srinagar Departure

Transfer to Srinagar International Airport for onward journey.
Note: Valid Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) and Shrine Board Yatra Permit are mandatory.
Prepaid SIM cards from other states do not work in J&K.

Know before you go
The Yatra is typically open only during July and August (Shravan month), subject to government announcement.
The trek is graded as Moderate, but altitude sickness and unpredictable weather can make it challenging. Proper fitness and a Compulsory Health Certificate are required.
The maximum altitude reached is approximately 12756 FT at the Holy Cave.
The Yatra has strict age limits (13 to 70 years). Elderly pilgrims must be extremely fit and have a valid health certificate. Helicopter or pony options are available.
No, free highly nutritious vegetarian food is provided throughout the route by various 'Langars'.
Accommodation is provided in basic tents at base camps and halting points.
